The challenge

Intermundial came to Tailor Hub with a problem that had been open for two years. Push notifications on their travel insurance app were firing intermittently, with no clear pattern and no reliable way to diagnose it. The internal team had lost visibility into what was actually reaching users.

In a travel insurance app, push notifications are operational. They land at moments that matter: a medical emergency abroad, a flight cancellation, a claim in progress. We decided not to touch anything until we understood what was broken. A deep technical audit of the existing integration came first.

The client

Intermundial is a Spanish company specialising in travel insurance and international assistance, with over 30 years in the market. Their app covers travellers across multiple countries, handling medical emergencies, trip cancellations, and 24/7 assistance. Every alert carries real consequences.

The tech

The audit traced the failure to the push notification integration. The fix was a clean implementation of the Salesforce Marketing Cloud SDK, replacing the setup that had been failing in production for two years.

Two weeks. Two React Native developers. From there, the scope expanded:

  • Technical audit of the push notification integration

  • Salesforce Marketing Cloud SDK implementation

  • React Native app (iOS + Android)

  • Salesforce connected directly to the backend, removing the app as a dependency for state transitions

  • Optimistic UI: the interface reflects changes instantly and self-corrects if the server responds differently

  • Redux migration to simplify global state management

  • Performance and security audit, with screen-level React Native best practices applied

  • Rozenite (Callstack) integrated as a development observability layer

The culture

Fixing the root problem changed the nature of the relationship. Once the two-week fix landed, a Tailor Hub developer joined the Intermundial product team on a continuous basis, advancing their backlog as a stable, embedded member of the team.

  • From surgical fix to stable presence inside the product team

  • Leading agentisation of internal development workflows through Tailor Extend

  • Working within InnovC's technical ownership while expanding scope over time

What started as a two-year-old bug became the starting point for an ongoing collaboration.
