Migrating dormakaba's global web estate across 40 countries

dormakaba is one of the world's largest access and security companies. Formed through the merger of DORMA and Kaba, it operates through employees and partners in more than 130 countries. Its products and systems are used in airports, hospitals, hotels, offices, homes and critical infrastructure.

The company was moving its global web estate from Coremedia to Contentful while preparing a series of country launches. Changing technology partners during the migration added another layer of risk: the new team had to understand a complex organisation and platform quickly enough to keep the programme moving.

dormakaba was looking for a more flexible delivery model, direct accountability and a partner that could respond when business priorities changed. Pablo González Cela, Global Digital Solutions Lead, backed Tailor Hub for that role.

Pablo was taking a visible risk. He had argued for Tailor inside the company, and the consequences of a failed transition would sit with him as well as with us. His message at the start was direct: “You can’t fail.”

Tailor Hub helped migrate 40 countries and 35 languages to a global platform built around Contentful, Vue and Nuxt. More than 30 Contentful spaces give local teams room to manage their markets while preserving a shared structure across the organisation.

The platform also brings together Fastly for delivery and security, Algolia for global search and Hybris as the source of product information. Since the original migration, we have continued evolving its foundations through a complete move from Vue 2 to Nuxt 3, a shared Storybook design system, new global modules and repeated country launches.

The first project began with a complex provider transition, an active international roadmap and very little margin for error. Today, eight Tailor engineers work alongside dormakaba across close to ten projects involving frontend, infrastructure, design systems, 3D, generative AI and machine learning.

That journey has produced initiatives such as dormakaba AI and the 3D City Explorer, each with a different business problem and its own case study.

dormakaba has become one of the client relationships we are most proud of. The breadth of the work reflects the trust built over several years, and the company's standards have pushed Tailor Hub to become a better engineering partner: more international, more versatile and capable of taking responsibility for increasingly complex challenges.
